New Construction on Charlotte Light-Rail System

The Charlotte Business Journal reported that the next phase of construction would begin in March 2014 on the light-rail route, a 9.3 mile route from uptown Charlotte to Old Concord Road. This would be followed by the section between Old Concord and University City and the UNCC campus.

Some of the public utility work had already been started in the summer months in preparation for the upcoming construction phase.

The light-rail initiative creates great work opportunities in this sector of the market. It will have a positive outcome for the Charlotte economy too.

The planning ahead for the next five years will include adding parks, pedestrian friendly and landscaped walkways, grocery stores and of course housing will be in demand around the allocated areas of the rail.
