Summer Ahead - Cool, Calm and Collected Interiors for Your Lake Norman Vacation Home

With a lovely long summer ahead, we need to keep the face of the heat outside. Inside dress your home to include the coolness of water, the lightness of ice and the feeling of a summer vacation.

To keep your home looking cool, you may consider adding the color blue to your room. Add scatter cushions with the color blue, maybe a rug and if you feeling really energetic what about painting a wall in the room to a cool shade of blue. Blue is supposed to have a calming effect on a person and that can add to the tranquility of the day and cool the heat of the outside summer.

White is light and fresh, although this would be a more permanent affect you could add a white wash to dull furniture. Choose white curtains and a few white, cream or beach stripe scatter cushions to compliment a few blue ones. Consider dressing lampshades in whites. Keep a jug of iced water in the room so you can sip when you really feeling the heat and make sure the fridge has all the easy foods for salads and light dining. Add a picture of water or a sailing boat to your wall to bring the coolness into your home. Maybe consider adding a tabletop water feature to your living area because the sound of the water will keep you feeling fresh.
